A team is taught to never give up, no matter the circumstances.
In the case of the Jamaica High School baseball team, they never did.
In the '08 season the Jamaica Beavers started off the season at a staggering 0-5. By the sixth game of the season, things looked up for the Beavers, as the Beavers defeated the August Martin Falcons 9-4. Things got a little worse when the team, at 2-7, beat August Martin one more time but lost to Van Buren two more times. As PSAL rules state, a team must be at .500 or third in their division to make the playoffs, so things didn't look good for the Beavers.
After winning three straight, Jamaica lost the most crushing loss: 8-4 to Campus Magnet. At 4-8, the whole team was just feeling down, but with the leadership of their seniors (Barat Ramlall, Jonathan Lazzaro, Umar Kahn, and Nohar Ramlall) they continued to play.
Jamaica then went on to win the remaining four games to make their record 8-8.
With the days passing by slowly, the Beavers waited to see if they made it to the playoffs. A couple days later, they found out that they made it and an even tougher foe awaited them in Benjamin Benneker Academy . With the whole season in this one game, the Beavers tried their hardest but fell to Benneker 10-1.
But the story is not that the Beavers lost in the playoffs; it is that even in the tough times and at 0-5, the Beavers pulled together as a team and made it to the playoffs. They showed the heart, the courage, the drive, and the will to never back down.

GTA IV Update(6/3/08)

Imagine driving around Broker (Brooklyn) while listening to Swizz Beats "Top Down" in a rendition of a Range Rover.
Now imagine the same situation but this time with cops shooting at you; that is the life that you play when you enter the world of GTA IV.
Welcome to Liberty City, where anything can happen. In a city where crime is the highest paying job, you are Niko Bellic an immigrant from Russia, who has come to start his life over. You enter your cousin Roman’s life along with his many associates. The only way to make a living and to save your cousin who is in serious debt is to work for various crime bosses throughout the game.
Most think this game deserves a higher ESRB rating such as A for adult, but M for mature is just fine. The M rating is for 17+, which is most of teens that play the game. They should be responsible to not let their younger siblings to play this game. To change the game to an A rating is pointless because A is just 18+. Even though some disagree with wanting a rating change, most players understand.

The game now lets you drink and drive, which shakes the screen, giving the illusion that you are drunk. Other than that one detail, the game is the same game it has always been, the same ol’ GTA concept. The drinking driving part of the game is exciting, it makes driving more fun, but understand that the game is getting more realistic and it is worrying more people.
The game obviously gets a 1o out of 10 because of its descriptive details; when you walk down stairs, you notice you take every step, and when driving, you will notice the little dents and scratches in the car. The one huge detail you notice is in the city of Algonquin (Manhattan). If you take a helicopter over the city at night, you will see the same amazing sights you would see if you were in a real helicopter overlooking the real city. Star Junction (Times Square) just lights up at night.

The game is a masterpiece that everybody should have, and if you don't have it you should go out and get it. For $60, you definitely get your moneys worth.

UPDATED: ARTICLE #7
It is the year of the Beaver, and the competition will be like the wood trees and one by one fall without making a sound.
The softball team is a premier team at Jamaica High School, and the Lady Beavers plan to keep it that way. Last year the Beavers made it to the semi-finals before being eliminated by Riverdale-Kings Academy.
The hard working, dedicated, and driven team is focused on getting to the championship and winning it. Coached by Mr.Pallisco, the girls have a very good shot at winning. After a 10-6 season and a run to the semi-finals, the Lady Beavers, with a team of sensational players, look to make a similar run, but this time to the finals.
In a division where #2 Flushing went 16-0, the #7 Lady Beavers will have to practice, practice, practice.
But this year will be a tough year for the Lady Beavers as they lost seniors Jenaya Wade, and Andreina Nunez whose statistical numbers were outstanding.
Already a quarter way through the season an the lady beavers are at 5-2 in leauge play and 11-3 overall. It comes to show you that the Lady Beavers dont rely on one person, but the whole group of players that make them the Lady Beavers of J.H.S .

Nothing like a Meal by the Creek
Like steak, chicken, the warm feeling of the great outdoors, and friendly service, then go to Boulder Creek.
Enjoy a hearty meal from the steaks down to the T-bone. With fair prices and a family oriented atmosphere Boulder Creek is the perfect place for a special occasion.
"Total contentment, is what Boulder Creek Steakhouse is all about. Kick back and relax in our warm, friendly atmosphere that brings a touch of the great outdoors, indoors and enjoy some of the most succulent and satisfying food this side of the Rockies." A fourth of a statement made on their website(www.bouldercreeksteakhouses.net) about the restaurant. They have a restaurant not more then 10 miles away. The most convenient one is in college point at 134-15 20Th Ave College Point, NY 11356,visit and try the food

With sirloin so tender it'll make your mouth water at the sight of the menu. Specializing in BBQ'ed foods such as ribs, steaks, chicken, etc. Here is an example of a food description on there menu:
Boulder Creek can be noisy and have a long wait to get in. Aside from that they do a good job. The drinks are good, the service very good and the food, though not gourmet in its presentation, still looks good and is abundant and at a fair price. If you are extremely budget conscious skip drinks and appetizer. You will certainly get an excellent value with some of the items on the menu.
All in all Boulder Creek gets a 4 out of 5. With great food and good atmosphere, A family can't go wrong with a meal by the creek.

The best burger I've ever had at a restaurant has come from the kitchen of Boulder Creek. Juicy with flavor oozing out the burger as you bite it. I recommend it, but all the food looks good try what you like.
But like every restaurant, Boulder Creek has its faults.Boulder Creek can be noisy and have a long wait to get in. Aside from that they do a good job. A Day to Think Pink
When you think about breast cancer, you probably think medically. But breast cancer has more impact on sports than any other medical illness.
What is breast cancer exactly though? Breast cancer is a malignant tumor in the breast region of a woman's body. The effects of breast cancer can be damaging to a woman's health and even fatal.
"It is affecting many more women, where many more women are being diagnosed with Breast Cancer," said Ms. Cheroquit, a counselor at Jamaica High School.
Even though Breast Cancer is associated with women most of the time, men can also receive breast cancer too.
So if both genders can
get it then, why pink?
"Pink is usually associated with women," Ms. Cheroquit added.
Yet breast cancer is widley sponsered by various sports.
Jamaica High School honored both breast cancer and women in sports on February 13, 2008
February 13, 2008 marked the twenty second anniversary for the recognition of women in mainstream sports. This is an opportunity for women to show that they too are athletes, not only men. It is also an opportunity for all females to support female athletes.
This is a day where women stand up and show that they are athletes and this influences other women and makes them want to play sports. "This is an opportunity to showcase girls who play sports and take a backseat to boys," said Ms. Sutera.
Women athletes are not as recognized as male athletes. This day is a day where women athletes let everyone know that they can play sports , and not only men can play sports and be great at it. This day also lets women know that there are sports out there that they can participate in.
"I am always honored to be involved in sports because of the struggle she went through because of the lack of programs available for her," Ms. Sutera said. She is very happy to coordinate programs for female athletes and she added, "it is a lot of work but it is worth the appreciation."
